Retro Remix at Prima Theatre
Everyone loves music. Maybe you love country, or rap, or classical, or pop. We live in a time where all genres are going through revivals of some sort. Glee and Pitch Perfect brought new life to mash-ups. Post Modern Jukebox revives the 20s-70s with today’s pop music. Now, Lancaster is lucky to have Prima Theatre bringing us Retro Remix.
In the newly renovated LCBC Church at Liberty Place, Prima brings phenomenal talent from around the world to the stage. Vocalists include Lydia Brittan (Nashville-based musician), Jaclyn Harnish (Venezuelan-born singer, turned local cabaret favorite), Cara Clase (PhD candidate in economics, and graduate of Millersville University who blew away audiences in Aida), and Reji Woods (PRiMA veteran and the first African American title role performer in Noah at Sight & Sound Theatres).
The band features Sissy Dinkle, an acclaimed bass player who began her professional training in Lancaster, who moved on to receive her Master’s degree in bass performance from Berklee while studying in Valencia, Spain. She now tours the nation. Similarly, Arturo Ortega is a touring musician, who began his professional percussion career as a drummer from Spain. Ortega moved to Seattle at the ripe age of 18 to launch his touring musician career. As a professional musician, he spent many of the last few months performing with the Pennsylvania Philharmonic Orchestra. The band also includes local favorites, Adam Rineer on keys, and Andrew Mendola on guitar.
Retro Remix brings you your favorite pop hits with a funky retro style. It is the best concert you can attend. Excitement is at an all time high waiting to hear what song is about to be performed. You realize it’s something you know but you aren’t exactly sure what it is. Then that certain note is played or lyric is sung and you realize it is one of your favorite Aerosmith songs. You’re elated! You sing and you dance along. Without giving too much away, you will hear everything from Whitney Houston to Ellie Goulding to Survivor to Beyonce. A certain parody song even makes the set.
If you love pop, you do not want to miss this show. RETRO REMIX plays a limited run of three consecutive Sundays (April 23, 30, May 7) at 7pm. Tickets start at $24.00 and are available by phone at 717-327-5124 or online at www.primatheatre.org.
