Active through every phase of the Civil Rights Movement, the YWCA has been integral in eliminating racism and empowering women. We are an organization of committed women with a vision of making the world a better place, one person at a time. For over a century, we have helped women and children find safe and affordable housing in Lancaster and have run Lancaster's Race Against Racism since 1999, making it the longest running YW event in the world. We work with a diverse community and aim to properly address the needs of anyone that we help.
We believe that every woman should have resources available to them in hard times. That's why we've expanded our sexual assault counseling services to four locations throughout Lancaster, to ensure that as many as possible can receive care. We also offer subsidized childcare to enrich children and teach the value of diversity, along with before and after school programs for children of all ages.
