    Neighborhood gem coming your way!

A new butcher and grocer is coming to downtown Lancaster! For those who live downtown, you get to experience what many European countries experience: the opportunity to get your weekly groceries from a small business butcher and grocer all within walking distance. And for those who live outside the city, this will surely entice you to come downtown more often because Cabalar Meat Co. is located in an area where you can also get all your downtown necessities, such as clothing and home goods, from the other surrounding small businesses.

Fig: Tell us a little about yourself and your wife Lianne.

Steve: Lianne and I met at culinary school. We lived in Philly and fell in love with Lancaster after visiting with a couple friends. So we sold a corporate catering company in Philly to settle here. Lianne will actually be making baked goods (biscuits, cookies) for our shop.

Fig: What items should we expect?

Steve: You can expect 100% grass fed beef pasture raised, non GMO poultry and seasonal lamb for the other meats. We will also have a grocery section in the shop that will include dairy products, produce, eggs, bottled beverages, and a grab-and-go section for those who need a quick pre-made meal.

Fig: Which farms will you be partnered up with?

Steve: Horseshoe Ranch for produce, Mirror Image Farms for pork, Meadow Run Farm, Myer Springdell, and Livengood Farm.

LEFT: Classic biscuits and gravy. RIGHT: The space is coming together!

Fig: What type of cooked foods will you be providing?

Steve: The menu will change daily. The prepared foods for breakfast will be tacos (with taco tortillas made in house), biscuits, and sandwiches. Lunch will also have tacos and will mainly be sandwiches.

Fig: Is there anything else you would like to share about your store?

Steve: We will have items that are vegetarian friendly!
