Fig Lancaster helps choose Plain & Fancy Custom Cabinetry design contest winner

The team at Fig Industries was asked to judge a contest for Plain & Fancy Custom Cabinetry which would highlight the workmanship and products of Plain & Fancy. The coveted prize: a photo of the winning design will be used as the Plain & Fancy advertisement in the Spring issue of Fig Lancaster coming in March!

“Fig’s mission resonates with Plain & Fancy’s goal to connect more with our local community, economy, and consumer base,” said Lisa Kyler, Marketing Coordinator at Plain & Fancy Custom Cabinetry. “Fig is also a beautiful printed piece with respected eye for design, detail, and what people want to see.”

Fig started with 63 designs—from bathrooms and kitchens, to walk-in closets and dining rooms. The Fig team took a first pass at all of the designs and based their decisions on first appearances, cutting the designs down to 40.

A total of 63 entries were reviewed

After that, the team looked closer at each individual design and used criteria provided by Plain & Fancy Custom Cabinetry: functionality of design, use of colors/materials, creativity, and photography/shot quality. By using this set criteria, the team narrowed it down to ten designs.

The end goal was to get three designs for Henrietta Heisler Interiors, AK Interiors, and David Lyall Design to review.

The Fig team developed a score sheet (one being worst, three being best) that focused on that set criteria. Each team member scored each of the ten photos left. Each score, for each photo, was then added together to create the final top three images!

The judges awarded the designed bathroom by Heidi Huddleston at Delicious Kitchens to be the winner! Close runner-ups were Matt Giardina at Front Kitchen and Anita Colby from The Cabinet Works.

The design will be featured in the Plain & Fancy Custom Cabinetry advertisement in Fig Spring 2018.

“Collaborating with Fig on choosing a winning design means that not only are we supporting Fig by being a community sponsor, but they are supporting us by giving their respected opinion on the great designs that the Plain & Fancy Dealers are able to provide,” added Lisa.

Congratulations, Heidi Huddleston. Your design is beautiful. We are glad we were part of the selection process to help showcase your wonderful work.
