    Take a Bite out of Summer at the Federal Taphouse

    The warmth of the summer sun is making its way to Lancaster, which means delicious summer menus are finally making their debut!

     

    We sat down with our friends at Federal Taphouse, and trust us, you’re not going to want to miss a bite of their summer menu or a moment of their amazing events. Inspired by the light, simple, and refreshing themes of summer, this season’s menu is packed with delicious dishes that will make you “Ooo and Ahh”.

    Chef Seth Basom 

    One of the summer menu items is an ever-popular classic that’s returning with a twist—Avocado Toast! Dressed with radishes, pea sprouts, housemade chili oil, and delicious Ricotta Salata, on top of made-from-scratch sourdough toast, this crowd pleaser is ready to welcome all avocado lovers and enthusiasts.

     

    Other dishes you’ll find on FedTap’s summer menu are, of course, delicious woodfired pizzas like the Crab and Blue Pizza and the Summer Corn Pizza, and a vegetarian menu option—Tofu Tacos.

     

    Grilled Halloumi from Federal Taphouse  

    Along with some summer classics, Seth Basom—Executive Chef at Federal Taphouse—is excited to introduce some brand new dishes to the menu. One being the Grilled Halloumi (pronounced huh-loom-e). We sat down with Chef Seth Basom to get the scoop on this debuting dish.

     

    Halloumi is a Mediterranean sheep cheese with a light and fresh taste. So subtle and so delicious that even people who don’t eat cheese would like it. Federal Taphouse’s Grilled Halloumi is an appetizer that’s served with a sweet watermelon jam, arugula, balsamic reduction, and caramelized pistachios. This sweet and savory appetizer is ready to be your new go to!

    After taking our first bite of this dish, a resounding “Mmm” could be heard across the restaurant. The sweetness of the watermelon jam and nutty taste of the arugula and pistachios are perfect complements to the deliciously subtle smokey taste of the cheese. The Halloumi had a unique texture that had a little bounce to it that—mixed with the crunch of the caramelized pistachios—made the most perfect bite! It’s a truly “savor each bite” kind of dish and, yes, it’s an appetizer, but we guarantee it’ll be a hard one to share!

    Federal Taphouse isn’t just serving up some delicious food this summer, they’ve got more than 100 beers rotated routinely, summer cocktails made by some talented mixologists, and amazing events happening each week!
