Fresh Face: Dimension Scent Studio

Sydney Miller’s candle making began in her hometown of Indianapolis three years ago at a class with her sisters and her mom. While her mom seemed to have a knack for the craft, Sydney admittedly wasn’t very good in her first attempt.

But the process reignited her creative spirit amidst the pandemic and a work-related move to Lancaster.

“I think a lot of people dug back into their creativity during the pandemic and had a bit more time to go back to things they really love to do,” Sydney said. “That was definitely what found me here. It’s been a lot of fun—it was one of those things that once you turn it on, it’s hard to turn it back off luckily.”

After practicing and practicing, Sydney honed her skills and began making so many candles, she had nowhere to put them all.

In 2021, she launched Dimension Scent Studio out of her spare bedroom. After building a faithful online following, Sydney decided it was time to move production out of her house while also convincing her sister Haley to move into her spare bedroom and join the team.

They found a spot on Columbia Avenue, moving production for their busy holiday season into the space last winter.

As spring came, the sisters set their sights on turning the space into a place where people could experience their candles and the art of pouring. Their candles are 100% clean and vegan with a portion of their proceeds going to youth and education nonprofits.

With the studio now open for retail as well as pour-your-own classes, they invite you to find (or make! ) your new favorite candle.
