LCSWMA
LCSWMA, or the Lancaster County Solid Waste Management Authority, is focused on protecting people and the environment, while contributing to a more sustainable community. After you place your trash and recycling at the curb, waste haulers collect the material and deliver it to LCSWMA to manage through our Integrated System. We then transform the waste into a resource by protecting land, generating renewable energy, and investing back into our community.
Let’s Recycle Right and Make Renewable Energy Too!
Lancaster County is leading the way to create a more sustainable community, and we need your help. It’s important to RECYCLE RIGHT with the Big 4: corrugated cardboard, plastics bottles and jugs, metal food and beverage cans, and glass bottles and jars. Contrary to popular belief, not all materials are recyclable and it’s important to put the correct items in the bin so you don’t contaminate the recyclables. The material you throw away will be turned into renewable energy when it’s combusted at our Lancaster Waste-to-Energy Facility. Your trash helps to power local homes and businesses.
