King Street Jam: A Local’s Guide

There’s no better way to kick-off the sweet, summertime than with a little music, art, food, and beer! Hosted by the Parliament Arts Organization, the King Street Jam in York, yes downtown York, not downtown Lancaster, is an all-day festival taking place on June 22nd. The event features a cool band lineup with local bands like THE and Baltic Noise, just a few of the talented musicians straight from our city of Lancaster that are bringing their sound across the river and to the streets of York!

THE is a four piece punctual rock band that was born right here in Lancaster!  They center their sound around hard work, reliability, and punctuality. Fans of The Killers, Foo Fighters, and The Beatles will have a hard time passing up this band. THE is currently working on recording and producing their third EP and will be playing on the Duke Street Stage at 2:30 pm. You might recognize THE from their First Friday and Launch Music Festival appearances, and they’ve recently performed at Zoetropolis Cinema Stillhouse for Jazz in the City.

Baltic Noise is the creative brainchild of another Lancasterian, Adrian Burns. The ethereal music of Baltic Noise touts itself as a “funeral of noise” which is a dreamy combination of ambient sound and dance music. Baltic Noise has made appearances at the Kaleidoscope and Bube’s Brewery and has just completed a summer tour along the East Coast. To experience his haunting musical sound and talent, catch him playing on the Duke Street Stage at 3:30 pm.

Other local and regional bands hailing from Harrisburg, Philadelphia, and York will round out the lineup, including bands such as The Ohio Players, Erika Wennerstrom, and Parker Millsap. To peek the full band list, check out the lineup here!

Make sure you’re hungry and ready to browse around because there’s plenty to do in between bands! The festival will feature a drool-worthy array of food trucks as well as local homemade and vintage vendors hosted by York Flea from both Lancaster and York. One of the featured vendors will be another local, Taylor Chip Cookie Co., who can frequently be found at Creatively Lancaster’s Makers Market or at their Lancaster Marketplace location on Fruitville Pike. They pasteurize their eggs using Lancaster County fresh free-range eggs from a small farm about 2 miles their our store and use special heat treated flour from a local milling company to make a hands-down perfect dough.

With such a wonderful lineup of local talent, food, and vendors, you won’t want to miss out! Grab your tickets early to take advantage of their early bird pricing!
