Alan Friedland joined his father-in-law at Ream Jewelers in 1972, just before the storied Hess Department Store on Queen Street closed. It was an unexpected start to a new career…but, also the beginning of Alan and his wife Ricki’s love and dedication to the City of Lancaster. Alan and Ricki Friedland decided to keep their jewelry store downtown, believing in Lancaster’s charm and vibrancy. They have successfully grown Ream Jewelers into a destination building from its 1935 beginning tradition of excellent, friendly service and resisting several invitations to leave the city and increase their footprint.

Alan and Ricki have worked hard to make the store a warm and inviting place. The “Ream Team” loves to chat and get to know their customers to better help them carefully create and design something special. The Friedlands and the staff at Ream Jewelers assist their customers and reoccurring clients to select the perfect gift for every occasion, whether it is a sparkling diamond engagement ring or a treasured unique gift. Relationships are built daily at the charming store on Queen Street and memories are captured in Ream’s signature chocolate brown boxes.
Alan maintains his American Gem Society certification annually and is always eager to learn and introduce new trends with a classic twist to Ream Jewelers and the City of Lancaster. He creates exquisite and eye-catching displays in the front windows of the store that whimsically connect to the seasons and the city life he enjoys. Ream Jewelers is looking especially bright with a fresh facade. The brand new beautiful gold awning is a great addition to the quaint block. Alan loves the liveliness of downtown Lancaster, including the shiny new structure right across the street, 101NQ, recently erected on the old Hess site, affirming his and Ricki’s commitment to the heart of Lancaster.
