What started as a casual blind date turned into a magical fairytale ending for Mike and Hayley. This charming couple fell in love in Philadelphia and are now proud to bring their “happily ever after” to Lancaster.
How They Met
Hayley is originally from Kennett Square while Mike grew up just around the corner in Lititz. She went to college in Pittsburgh and Mike went to undergrad in Boston then graduate school in St. Louis. From there they found new career opportunities in Philadelphia where they would eventually meet through the help of some mutual friends. Mike and Hayley’s paths first crossed on a blind date that confirmed what their friends already knew—these two were perfect for each other. The relationship snowballed from there, turning into adventure after adventure.
In March of 2018, Mike knew he was ready to get down on one knee. He wanted to be sure to find the perfect ring and plan an unforgettable proposal, so over the next few months he carefully organized a heartwarming surprise Hayley would never forget.
Their Engagement
Mike found the dream ring at Brent L. Miller—a solitaire diamond he knew Hayley would fall in love with. Why did Mike choose Brent L. Miller? Mike’s parents had always shopped there and he knew Ryan Miller, one of the current owners, would make his experience customized and unforgettable, just like his engagement plans. Mike knew he wanted a classic diamond, but didn’t have much guidance after that. Ryan assisted him in picking out the band size, the prongs, and other details, helping the process to be as flawless as the diamond itself.
On June 30th, 2018, Mike treated Hayley to a drink at a bar in Rittenhouse Square, her favorite section of Philadelphia. He needed an excuse to get her to the area, as he had the surprise engagement all lined up. After enjoying a drink, they took a stroll around the park, taking in the warm summer evening. As the sun shimmered through the trees, Mike knew the moment he had long prepared for had arrived. He kneeled down and proposed, knowing his life was about to change forever. Of course, Hayley responded, “Yes!” Mike was fully prepared with a photographer, ready to capture the moment.

Afterward, Mike surprised Hayley with all of their family and friends, who were waiting to celebrate at Pub & Kitchen, where the couple had their first date. Each and every moment of the day was carefully planned, down to him packing extra mascara because he knew she would want to touch up her makeup after a few tears of joy.
Soon after the engagement, the happy couple accepted jobs and bought a house in Lancaster, ready to settle down and call this beautiful City their home.
Their Perfect Date Night
Since moving here, Mike and Hayley have continued to view life as an adventure. They adore exploring new places and are always trying out creative date night ideas.

What is their ideal night out? Mike and Hayley planned out a date night in Lancaster that covers all of their favorite places in Lancaster City. They recommend starting at Molly’s Pub for a drink, then heading to Callaloo Trinidadian Kitchen for traditional South American cuisine. After dinner, they head to Decades for a friendly game of bowling. According to Mike and Hayley, no proper date can end without ice cream. They highly recommend Coffee Caramel (Mike) and Mint Oreo (Hayley) from the Lancaster Sweet Shoppe.
After chatting with Mike and Hayley, it’s clear how much they love each other and this City. We had a wonderful time hearing the sweet couple share their story.
