Multiple studies have shown that wine offers heart-healthy benefits. The LG Health Foundation wants the community to know that participating in the 2020 Wine Heart Gala benefits cardiovascular care right here in Lancaster County. By participating in this year’s virtual gala, participants will help to raise money for Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health’s Heart & Vascular Institute (HVI). Proceeds will support HVI’s community-based programs and patient support services. This includes equipping local organizations with life-saving automated external defibrillators (AED’s) and assisting people in our community who face financial barriers to care.
With three virtual activities to choose from this year, the Wine Heart Gala will still offer a unique wine-tasting experience. The gala kicks off on October 5th with a virtual silent auction featuring a wide selection of vintage wines. Online bidding concludes on October 17th. The main event, a virtual wine & food tasting experience, will be live streamed from Lancaster Country Club (LCC) on Saturday, October 17th. The tasting experience will be hosted by event chair Mike Peck, Sommelier Chris Trendler, and LCC Chef Tanner Seitt. Registration for this event includes a premium food and wine basket with a half split of champagne, two premium reds, a half split of dessert wine, a generous charcuterie board, and dessert for two. Registration for the virtual wine & food tasting is required, and baskets will be available for pick up at Lancaster Country Club during the day on the 17th. Participants will take their baskets home and enjoy them during the live-stream event at 7pm that evening.
Topping off the gala is a raffle for Wine Spectator’s top 12 wines from 2019. Only 200 tickets are available for the raffle, and a winner will be announced and notified on October 18th. Tickets for the raffle can be purchased now and will remain on sale until sold out. If you are unable to attend any of the events during this year’s Wine Heart Gala, please consider making a tax-deductible donation online to the LG Health Foundation, directed toward the Heart and Vascular Institute.
The Wine Heart Gala is an important event that makes many of HVI’s community-based programs and patient support services possible. Proceeds from the Wine Heart Gala also help fund heart disease research and innovative new treatments. The LG Health Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health, organizes the event and relies on the proceeds of the gala to fund the purchase of AED’s and provide gap funding for cardiovascular patients who need financial support.
