    Fresh Face: Busy Bodies Cafe

Over the course of her career in day care centers, Denise Evans noticed a startling shift in how children play. Interactions that were once driven by imagination and creativity were slowly and steadily being replaced by screen time. She decided to use her concern as fuel for a new venture, Busy Bodies Play Cafe—an indoor playground where kids can satisfy their curiosity without a screen in sight.

With towering cedar playsets and climbing structures, a fully stocked play kitchen, Lego and train tables, and an ever-changing rotation of toys, Busy Bodies is a place where children and their whimsical imaginations can run wild.

“The kids are ultimately the ones who decide what they want to do and what they want to play with,” Denise said.

From the toys available for children to a safe environment where caregivers can relax while their kids play, Denise and her husband, Roy, are intentional about cultivating an environment that sets the stage for visitors to have a meaningful experience.

Busy Bodies has facilitated play from their flagship location at the Rockvale Outlets since March 2022, and now Busy Bodies is bringing their play-based learning philosophy to a second location at Ewell Plaza beside Lancaster Public Library.

The new location will offer the same elements at their Rockvale location, including monthly memberships, enrichment classes, and a space to host parties, and introduce even more hands-on elements and events for families in the Lancaster community.
