LEAP Forward with Simon Lever

When it comes to choosing a career, students select a field that aligns with their skills and interests, but rarely are they given an opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the industry.

When it comes to choosing a career, students select a field that aligns with their skills and interests, but rarely are they given an opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the industry. Simon Lever Business Advisors & CPAs is seeking to change this, starting with their annual LEAP Day externship event.

“LEAP Day allows us to connect with accounting and business students, offering a firsthand view into what their future career could look and feel like,” said Allison Nutting, Talent Developer at Simon Lever. “It can be hard to make a tangible connection from classwork to real experiences, so we love being able to give students a taste of that real experience as early as we can.”

LEAP Day is an opportunity for second- and third-year college students to spend a day with the team at Simon Lever, gaining a new perspective into how day-to-day life at a firm operates. During LEAP Day, participants have access to Simon Lever’s talented team of accountants and CPAs who are excited to answer any question they have about the vocation.

The “why” behind the externship lies in the name itself—

LEAD with your strengths.
EXPLORE life in public accounting.
ACHIEVE new learning experiences.
PURSUE the next steps in your career path.

“Not only do students get perspective on what the day-to-day life in public accounting brings, they also have an opportunity to build their network and create meaningful connections with peers and our team members,” Allison said. “Building connections, caring for people, and serving others are vital to who we are at Simon Lever, so those themes are central to our LEAP Day experience.”

Consistently named one of Pennsylvania’s best places to work, Simon Lever is a people-first firm. Their number one goal when it comes to employee culture is to enhance the lives of their team members by strategically positioning them for growth and success. By establishing a program like LEAP Day, Simon Lever is paying that growth forward to the next generation of young professionals entering the workforce. In the interest of paying it forward, each student that participates in Simon Lever’s LEAP Day is also entered to win a $250 scholarship toward their education costs.

Since the LEAP Day program began over 10 years ago, Simon Lever has partnered with students from Millersville University, West Chester University, Messiah University, Elizabethtown College, Penn State, and Lebanon Valley College. For Simon Lever, LEAP Day is not only an excellent opportunity for students, but it’s also an investment in the well-being of their workforce and an effort to see the industry they have dedicated themselves to thrive for years to come.
