31 Recipes to Make in October

Recipe & story by Ann Fulton

Could you use a speedy meal to sustain the troops before they set out trick-or-treating? Or perhaps a make-ahead breakfast with seasonal appeal? A latte to rival a top seller commonly known by the initials P.S.L.?

Or maybe you, like me, were tasked with bringing the lone healthy snack to a class party—and it must be orange, by the way. Number 18 on the following list was the lightbulb that went off in my head the year my older son was in fourth grade. The snack was such a hit that I continued to pack them in my boys’ lunches, even when they were in high school. (They assured me at the time that they were not embarrassed and to keep doing it!)

Similarly, we are never too old for Spooky Spaghetti Stuffed Peppers (#17 on the list), among festive fare. Numbers 21, 23, and 30 readily come to mind!

Meet Ann Fulton, the recipe developer and cook behind The Fountain Avenue Kitchen where she has been sharing time-tested recipes for the last 12 years.

From seasonal breakfast and dinner recipes both serious and silly, after-school snacks, and the best way to roast pumpkin seeds to a cocktail called Spider Cider (a must!) and a dessert that makes use of leftover candy, I hope you have fun perusing the list.
