Blackbird Health Brings Whole-Child Mental Health Care to Lancaster
Blackbird Health’s new Lancaster office brings whole-child mental health care to local families, with in-person and virtual support for ages 2 to 26.
For many Lancaster families, finding mental health support for a child has meant long waits, long drives, or both. Blackbird Health, which recently opened its first Lancaster office, is working to change that. The pediatric mental health practice offers care for children, teens, and young adults—ages 2 to 26—with a comprehensive approach built around the whole person.
Looking at the Full Picture
Anxiety, ADHD, mood challenges, and developmental differences often overlap and influence one another, and treating one without seeing the others can leave families feeling stuck. That’s why Blackbird begins with a thorough intake process. Rather than zeroing in on a single concern, clinicians look broadly at emotional, behavioral, developmental, and learning factors. The goal is to identify co-occurring conditions, such as ADHD paired with anxiety, so that treatment is more precise from the very first appointment.
From there, families are connected with the right specialists. Blackbird’s services include evaluations and assessments for conditions like ADHD, autism, OCD, and depression, along with neuropsychological testing, therapy, and medication management. Executive function coaching helps patients build skills in planning, organization, and time management, while parent support sessions give caregivers tools to use at home so that the care stays coordinated.

Care That Meets Families Where They Are
Lancaster is a brand-new market for Blackbird, and the office offers both in-person and virtual appointments. Clinicians recommend the format that will best support each individual, which can make care more accessible for busy families. Insurance is accepted too, as Blackbird has in-network relationships with a range of major carriers.
In addition to working with patients, Blackbird collaborates with the community by referring pediatricians and providers, conducting school workshops, and supporting parents as they navigate educational systems. They are also a resource for young adults and college students, helping them navigate through life’s big transitions.
A Growing Need
Blackbird began in Allentown and has grown to 16 locations. In Lancaster, the team hopes to offer mental health services and evaluations that haven’t always been available to local families.
“Lancaster is a culturally significant area of Pennsylvania, and we’re thrilled to bring Blackbird’s mission of helping children feel understood to this growing and diverse community,” shared Jen Fremuth, the Senior Director of the Behavioral Health Department. “We look forward to building meaningful connections with local families, partnering with community providers, and providing compassionate, individualized support that helps children and families thrive.”
Jen adds that the team is eager to become part of Lancaster, celebrating its diversity, and creating a welcoming environment where children and families feel supported, understood, and empowered.
