Located in the heart of Lancaster City, the Solvit Academy studios are newly renovated and taking an innovative approach to education.
One of their core pillars is: We believe in making memories, not memorization.
Through self-directed activities, hands-on projects, and collaborative play, your child will develop skills relevant to the 21st century. Solvit is committed to forward-thinking when it comes to education, keeping in mind a quote by John Dewey that says, “If we teach today as we taught yesterday, we rob our children of tomorrow.”
Each day includes lots of movement and positive reinforcement to build a foundation for a lifelong love of learning. Their full-day Kindergarten program is designed to encourage curiosity in your five- or six-year-old, putting them in a personalized environment that honors each child’s unique gifts.
Students at Solvit, called Voyagers, participate in daily learning within two age-based studios—the Spark Studio for five- and six-year-olds and the Exploration Studio for ages 7 to 11. Each studio is student-centered and has one studio Guide.
“Within the Spark Studio, our learners are receiving the core skills that students within a traditional classroom would be receiving, but the delivery of these concepts may look differently,” said Spark Studio Guide Melissa Berardi. “The Spark Voyagers are learning through hands-on, authentic experiences—which research shows solidifies the learning that is taking place.”
As Solvit learners grow, they will add middle and high school studios in the years to come.
“Our mission is to inspire each child to find a calling and change the world,” Melissa Groff, co-founder and Head of School, said.
Solvit is offering limited enrollment for their 2022/2023 school year. Interested parents and guardians can schedule a tour online at solvitacademy.com and reach out to Melissa at melissa@solvitacademy.com for more information.
