Discover modern, preloved fashion finds at People & Things

This Lancaster secondhand boutique invites you to "come for the things, stay for the people."

Fresh Face

Michael and Abigail Sturdivant have dreamed of opening a secondhand clothing store for nearly a decade.

Although they both pursued corporate careers after they met in college, their entrepreneurial spirit has grown steadily over the years, and after relocating to Lancaster in January 2024 to be closer to Abigail’s family, they decided it was now or never.

People & Things opened in the heart of Lancaster City in March 2025, with a curated selection of modern pre-loved clothes, shoes, and accessories.

“We’ve always been into fashion and believe you can see people authentically in the way they express themselves through their clothing,” Michael said.

Abigail’s background in fashion merchandising has given her an eye for brands and styles people want to wear and that last, while Michael’s work in consulting and strategic development allows him to take on the business side of their new venture.

“We’re both really passionate about helping people build their wardrobes and find brands they love at an affordable price,” Abigail said. “And we want to give people alternatives to fast fashion and keep clothes that still have a lot of life in them out of the landfills.”

Inspired by their own desire for connection, Michael and Abigail are turning their Prince Street space into more than just a retail store—the ‘people’ part of their name speaks to their vision for creating a dynamic third space for the community to gather.

From Sunday DJs to Sip & Shops to artist pop-ups, People & Things has already created a buzz in the Lancaster community. And with 200 new items on their racks every week, you can elevate your wardrobe and meet some cool folks all at the same time.

Find them on the second floor of 17 North Prince Street.
