Barry’s Car Barn

Take a trip down memory lane with an extensive collection of American muscle cars from the 50s, 60s, and 70s (and more!). Why we loved it:

• WOW! The number of vehicles Barry has collected over the years is so impressive. Barry even went as far as to make the outside seem like an old school “filling station”—so cool!
• Walking in is like a blast from the past, with so many fun colors and types of cars. Even if you don’t consider yourself a car person, Barry’s Car Barn will challenge that. Inspired, Hanniel is now on the lookout for a new (old school) whip.
• The car and motorcycle restorations are immaculate, with details recorded for visitors to read and learn. It’s obvious this “museum” was a project of love just like CHYATEE is for our owner Timbrel Chyatee.

Old Windmill Farm
262 Paradise Ln, Ronks, PA

Bottle-feed a calf, milk a cow, feed the goats, gather eggs, press cider—these are just some of the farm tour experiences awaiting you.
Why we loved it:

• Farm owner, Jesse, was one of our favorite parts of this experience! He takes pride in the farm that has been in his family for many years and loves sharing with visitors. You are truly supporting a local business owner who has opened his home to teach others about his culture and the impact of farms on Lancaster County.
• We loved being able to hold and feed the many animals on the farm—and did we mention that you get a watch a pig go down a slide? It’s a pretty pig moment.
• Jesse even gave us free produce to take home, but only if we picked the produce ourselves. Hard work is very important to Amish culture, and Jesse gave us a glimpse of how working a successful farm takes a family, like our team.

The Old Country Store

Learn how to quilt from a professional and bring home your own work of art. Why we loved it:

• Because our small business is focused on handmade products and clothing, it was fun to get the team behind a sewing machine and get a feel for the complexity of working with handmade quilts.
• Our favorite was a colorful patchwork quilt that contained patches of houses with fun characters in the doorway of each house. Talk about the perfect quilt for a friendly game of Eye-Spy before bed.
• It was great to experience Lancaster’s art of quilt making and see how it is still remembered and shared in our community— we hope the art of quilt making remains alive forever.

Prussian Street Arcade
49 N Main St, Manheim, PA

A boutique shopping experience new to downtown Manheim. Why we loved it:

• This is a great chance to shop the many creatives, creators, and collectors here in Lancaster County—a mix of jewelry, antiques, clothing, and so much more.
• The arcade is a very “Instagram-able” location with decor that makes you want to strike quick pose. Girls Day, anyone?
• A fun addition to shopping here is listening to customers play the hand-painted piano, which was painted by a local artist. We even learned our very own Timbrel has been hiding her own piano playing skills—a pleasant surprise to our ears.

Learn more about Lancaster’s role in shaping Pennsylvania’s history as you connect with the past. Why we loved it:

• This museum is constantly changing its exhibit to give insight on the long-standing history of Lancaster. During our visit, we learned about “Lancaster through the Sixties” from the 1660s to the 1960s.
• As a female-owned business, we loved the exhibit’s highlight of elegant, patterned women’s fashion, similar to some pieces you may catch at our 101NQ location.
• Some pretty cool concerts took place in F&M’s Mayser’s Gym—like an Elton John concert for $5. Some of Vetzrel’s favorite songs are by Elton John so if Elton decides to return to Lancaster, she’d be willing to pay a little more for the opportunity.
