Horizon: Local Non-Profit Changing Lives Around the World

Why do we help others in need? For many, it’s a calling—a way to give to those who have very little and to lay the infrastructure for successful futures. But the question is, who do we help? It’s mind-blowing to imagine that in 2020, millions of children around the world still lack access to the necessities of life: food, housing, water, education, love. Thanks to the work by Horizon: Empower the Orphaned, a local non-profit headquartered right here in Lancaster City, vulnerable children around the world are given the chance to experience love, belonging, family, and find their identity – things many of us take for granted as we buzz around in our busy lives.

Horizon is changing what it means to serve orphaned children. Their mission to empower children to sustainable futures uses a program model with a holistic approach to wellbeing and childcare. With a focus on family, education, and emotional and spiritual well-being, Horizon is working to prepare each child for a future of health, happiness, growth, and belonging. The work never stops, and there are many incredible people that are part of Horizon’s “global” family. Some of the world’s most vulnerable children are being given a fresh start in life – coming to belong in a family, with support, love, and encouragement like they have rarely experienced before. The work is real; it’s challenging, and unbelievably rewarding. It’s a mission worth learning about, and getting involved in. Horizon offers many ways for supporters to get involved, and they are building a community of “Trailblazers” to do just that.

This year’s virtual gala and live auction will be live-streamed on Saturday, September 26 on Facebook and YouTube, from 7:30 PM – 8:30 PM EST. It is guaranteed to entertain, educate, and tug at your heart. The Horizon team has embraced the unique challenge of building this year’s virtual event and is thrilled to be reaching a truly global audience. Watch parties are taking place in over a dozen states and in Canada. Simultaneously, VIP Experience Boxes are being shipped all over the world. Select media partners are also streaming the gala to their social audiences. With expectations for over a thousand viewers and over 600 supporters participating in these innovative watch parties, it’s starting to feel like this will be Horizon’s largest and most successful gala. Horizon’s approach is very unique- all their administrative expenses are fully funded by investors. This helps to ensure that 100% of all money raised goes directly to the international programs that support and empower these amazing children.
