Make yourself at home with loft-style living at the reimagined Stehli Silk Mill
The Lancaster landmark is now leasing studio, one-, and two-bedroom units.

Lancaster has been long renowned for architectural marvels and trailblazing industrial feats, and Stehli Silk Mill is the perfect example of that rich history. Designed by accomplished Lancaster architect C. Emlen Urban and opened in 1898, the mill became a prized landmark of the area, and for a number of years, was the longest mill in the country—employing over 2,000 workers and housing over 1,000 looms.
After the mill stopped operations in the 1950s, RCA Televisions occupied the space for several decades. However, by the 1980s, the complex became mostly vacant after several failed attempts at redeveloping the 11-acre property, leaving the buildings dormant.
Revitalizing such an iconic yet neglected piece of Lancaster’s history was going to require expertise, creativity, and a lot of grit. That’s where Marc Munafo and Larry Silverstein-Phillips came in. Marc, who is the President of Maryland-based CAM Construction, and Larry, who owns a Rhode Island-based development firm called Knight Street Capital, are childhood friends turned business partners. The two have over 25 years of experience renovating industrial buildings together across the Northeast and are very selective about the projects they pursue.

“Despite appearing to be a property in disrepair, our team knew that with a bit of imagination we could restore the buildings back to their former glory,” Marc shared.
The duo purchased the property in 2019, investing six years into transforming the landmark into the 165 loft apartments, designated community areas, commercial spaces, and resident amenities. Marc and Larry were very intentional about preserving as much of the original materials and structure as they could, as well as hiring local subcontractors to work on the project.
The Lofts at Stehli Silk Mill opened for leasing in January 2025, and their commitment to local investment continues with 20,000 square feet of retail space allotted to house small businesses. These spaces will provide additional amenities for Stehli residents along with providing local entrepreneurs a place to grow their business.
“We are thrilled to have over 70 percent of the first phase of apartments leased, and we are looking forward to opening up the final set of units this fall,” shared Angelo Munafo, Vice President, Real Estate Development at CAM Construction. “We are also excited to welcome RHYLEASE Indoor Cycling and The Daily Pilates into the community while working with other prospective wellness and hospitality tenants to round out the convenient live-work-play offerings within the Silk Mill.”
With soaring ceilings, exposed brick and beams, and a total of 1,400 single-hung and industrial windows throughout the property, the Lofts’ vibrant history, paired with sleek modern touches, make it a destination for urban living and community connection.
