Movers & Co. is a locally owned moving company that offers stress-free solutions for residential, commercial, and long-distance moves across all 50 states. Founded by Chris Santos in 2017, the Lancaster-based company is setting a new standard in the industry based on exceptional customer service while empowering Chris to build a legacy that his family is proud of.

Chris was born in Brooklyn, New York, raised in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, and moved with his parents and brother to Lancaster, Pennsylvania in 1997.

“My parents wanted to give us a better education and better opportunities, and Lancaster delivered on that promise,” Chris shared. “I attended Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology and Millersville University for my degree and went on to work in the engineering department of an Aerospace and Defense company.”

“That career gave me a strong foundation in precision, accountability, and systems thinking,” he added. “But I always knew I wanted to build something of my own.”

Nearly 10 years ago, Chris decided to take the entrepreneurial leap when he saw a gap in services in the area.

“Moving is one of the most stressful experiences a person can go through, and too many companies treat it like a transaction instead of a service,” he explained. “I saw people getting burned by hidden fees, careless movers, and zero accountability—I knew I could do better.”

Movers & Co. was established on a simple goal: To be a company that actually shows up, does the job right, and leaves the customer feeling good about the experience. For almost a decade, that mission has not changed.

From first estimates to financing options to post-move services, they believe in being a true one-stop shop for their customers.

They have relationships with trusted electricians, plumbers, roofers, and other home service professionals to connect you for fixes and upgrades when you move. They also offer auto transports and cleaning services through their sister company Cleaners & Co.

“The ‘&  Co.’ in our name is intentional. We are not just a moving company,” Chris explained. “We want to be your home services partner.”

“We know Lancaster—the permit requirements, the tricky driveways, the narrow streets. That local knowledge matters on move day,” Chris said.

Lancaster will always be home base for Movers & Co., and Chris is honored to build a business on integrity and hard work in the community that has shaped him and where he has put down roots with his own family.

“No matter where this business grows, our commitment stays the same: Show up on time, work hard, communicate clearly, and leave every customer better off than when we arrived,” he said.

Giving Back Through Move It Forward

A core part of Movers & Co.’s mission, the Move It Forward program offers a completely free move to someone in need. Anyone can apply or nominate someone they know who is going through a tough time on the Move It Forward page on their website.

“The reason this program exists is personal,” Chris said. “When my family first moved to Lancaster in 1997, we needed help. We were lucky because we had family here who stepped up and provided support, but not everyone has that. Some people are making a major life transition completely on their own, and moving is one more barrier they should not have to face alone. That is why we are here.”

Movers & Co. also partners with Move for Hunger, a nonprofit dedicated to fighting food insecurity. If a customer has non-perishable goods they want to donate during their move, they take those items to a local food bank at no charge.

“These small things add up to something meaningful,” Chris shared.
