Runcible Studios is a seasoned and curious architecture firm with a new chapter in Lancaster

Marilyn Moedinger combines creative vision with the nuts and bolts you need to get the job done.

Fresh Face

The Lancaster chapter of Runcible Studios’ story may be new, but Founding Principal and Lancaster native Marilyn Moedinger’s passion for architecture and design began when she was just five years old. “My mom would buy me books of house plans, and I’d whiteout all the walls to redraw them where I wanted them,” she reminisced.

Now, she brings that same passion and creativity to her clients. Marilyn founded Runcible Studios Architecture and Design in Boston in 2014, but the pandemic got her thinking about home. “I wanted to be close to family again, and I realized I could open a second office right here in the city,” she shared. “Lancaster is so cool!”

Her first big project in the area was a full renovation and interiors of a 1730s stone house on the farm where she grew up. “The house has been in our family since it was built, and it was time to give it the love it deserved while respecting its history,” she explained.

The house has since won national awards for design and is a showcase of her flair for color, texture, and art, as well as practical considerations like systems design, structure, and function. “Where all that comes together, that’s where I thrive, especially when it seems impossible at first,” she said.

Marilyn is excited to bring her decades of experience in the built environment to Lancaster. With her background in construction, architecture, design, real estate, travel, and teaching, she’s uniquely qualified to help her clients bring their dreams to life—offering high-touch client services, sophisticated design, and deep technical knowledge.

“We aren’t just ‘drawing up plans.’ We’re bringing our experience to bear at all points of a project, from vision through construction,” Marilyn explained. “Our clients have busy lives and expect excellence, creativity, and something a little different from the run of the mill. And we’re here for it!”

As for working on more projects in Lancaster, Marilyn is excited to be part of a community that has grown and changed over the years. “Lancaster is a special place,” she says. “I’m thrilled to be back home, working in a place and for people I care deeply about.”
