She Owns It: Plumb + Fig
Founder Lori Oberholtzer creates thoughtful, functional interiors that reflect the lives, values, and priorities of the people who inhabit them.
Lori Oberholtzer has always been a dreamer, drawing inspiration from a line of creatives and entrepreneurs in the design industry. “Then I married a realtor, so homes were always a part of my story,” she added.
It was in 2018 when Lori pitched the idea to flip a house to her husband, Justin. Their combined expertise and passions were the perfect match, and Lori loved every minute of the design process.
With her creative vision for starting the business and Justin’s unwavering support of her dreams, they launched Plumb + Fig. “‘Plumb’ represented Justin’s knack for precision, and ‘Fig’ symbolized my love of design which is often inspired by my surroundings—even from a unique piece of fruit!” Lori explained.
After a few successful flips together, the Oberholtzers received news that Justin had been diagnosed with ALS.
“My attention quickly turned to caregiving for him and our two kids through this unfathomable and life-altering diagnosis,” she shared. “Throughout his seven-year journey with ALS, I focused the business solely on interior design work and took on several creative projects, but on a limited basis.”
Some of those projects included commercial designs and art installations for Manheim’s SUPPLY Coworking Space and Cavod Performing Arts, as well as full-floor renovations, and most recently, a modern new build. Her approach to each project is fueled by her pursuit of constant inspiration, allowing everywhere she goes and everything she does to be a learning opportunity.
“I always start with discussing a client’s goals and style so I can infuse personality into their spaces,” she said. “People and connection are so important to me, and that’s really my favorite part of the whole process.”
After a significant loss to ALS, Lori is stepping into 2026 carrying forward a fresh passion for her work—hoping to inspire the next generation to take a chance on their dreams.
“It’s empowering to know I had an incredible framework of people who believed in and invested in me, so continuing to bring this vision to life even still is a huge accomplishment,” she said.
