Toast to Local Art and Spirits at the Demuth Museum of Art’s Gin Garden Party

Enjoy gin tastings, live music, and an open studio with Artist-in-Residence coming on August 7, 2026

This August, the Demuth Museum of Art on King Street invites neighbors and visitors alike to gather for an evening of celebration at their second annual Gin Garden Party.

Set within the beautiful Demuth Garden, this event offers a unique opportunity to toast the legacy of Charles Demuth by enjoying his favorite spirit in the space that inspired so much of his iconic work. Complimentary gin cocktail samples and refreshing mocktails will be supplied by local favorites Lancaster Distilleries and Thistle Finch with live music by acoustic singer-songwriter Dane Fox. Admission to this 21+ event is free, and two drink tickets per person will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. The Demuth Museum of Art’s 2026 Artist-in-Residence, Abigail Dudley, will also have an open studio at the Demuth Program Center during the event at 116 East King Street.

About Abigail Dudley

Originally from New Jersey, Abigail brings a rich artistic background to Lancaster, having earned her BFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, her MFA from the University of Delaware, and having spent formative undergraduate summers studying at the Mount Gretna School of Art.

Her residency work interfaces beautifully with the museum’s historic roots. “Charles Demuth’s use of color and dynamic compositions really capture my imagination,” Abigail shared. “I hope to emulate the same imaginative spirit in my work during my residency at the Demuth Museum of Art this summer.”

Visitors to her open studio will get a firsthand look at how Lancaster’s unique scenery and history have shaped her vision, featuring a collection of large figurative pieces and paintings depicting the landscapes around Lancaster.

This collaboration is a representation of the museum’s ongoing commitment to supporting blooming artists. “Building on the success of last year’s inaugural Demuth Artist Residency Program, we’re delighted to welcome Abigail Dudley to Lancaster,” says Abby Baer, Executive Director of the Demuth Museum of Art. “We’re eager to see how her work evolves through her time spent at our museum and through her interactions with Lancaster’s art community.”

Whether you are an avid art collector, a lover of local craft spirits, or simply looking for a way to connect with the local community, join the Demuth Museum of Art on August 7 to toast to Charles Demuth and Abigail Dudley’s impact on the local arts community.
