Join Franklin & Marshall professor Dr. Peter Jaros as he celebrates the publication of his new book The Corporate Forms of Antebellum U.S. Literature in conversation with his colleague Dr. Erik Anderson. Haven’t brushed up on your early 19th-century literature in a while? Don’t worry: no prior knowledge or reading required for this event.
You’ll get to learn about how in the early 19th century, the corporate form was still a wobbly category that writers used as a vehicle for imagining both personhood and politics in strange and surprising ways. And you’ll have the chance to talk about why anyone in 2026 would want to read books from the early 1800s & what exciting intersections there might be between law and literature.
