Material Exploration – Sketchbook Creation: Grades 6-9 at PCA&D

In this class for students in grades 6-9 we will dive into unconventional art-making by experimenting with a wide range of materials to discover new textures, forms, and techniques. Students will explore how different materials behave and be encouraged to push boundaries beyond traditional art supplies and how a sketchbook is the perfect place to experiment. The workshop culminates in creating small mixed-media pieces that reflect each student’s discoveries. This is a studio based class with some guidance to start followed by one-on-one instruction. Expect lots of creative freedom within the bounds of the assignment!
