Michelle Yeoh stars as Evelyn Wang, a Chinese American immigrant juggling a struggling laundromat, an IRS audit, and a family she can’t quite hold together—until an encounter with the multiverse sends her hurtling through the lives she might have led. Wildly inventive, funny, and moving, the film takes America’s promise of self-reinvention to an extraordinary extreme. If we could become anyone, what would make this particular life worth choosing? And can kindness offer a meaningful response to a world that seems increasingly overwhelming?
