The Fig Tree

For nearly two decades Fig has been on a mission to celebrate entrepreneurs and contribute to the vitality of Lancaster City.

To expand our mission, Fig has partnered with our friends at Lancaster County Community Foundation to plant The Fig Tree, a Donor Advised Fund that will award grants annually to support small business owners so new ideas can take root and grow, ensuring Lancaster City can continue to thrive. These grants will boost improvements, expansions, and innovations.

It’s our way of leaving a legacy of support and encouragement for small business owners to help ensure the Lancaster City small business community continues to flourish.

We’ve always believed that one big idea can change everything and that every business has the power to have a positive impact on their community.

2025 Fig Tree Grant Details

If you own a small business in Lancaster City and have big plans to grow, apply for a Fig Tree grant!

Grant applications be open through May 1 with grants being awarded in the fall and recipients featured in the winter edition of Fig Lancaster magazine. Grantees will be awarded by an independent community panel based on application answers.

Fig Tree Facts

Grant Amount: $5,000 each
Fund Partner: Lancaster County Community Foundation
Fiduciary Partner: Lancaster City Alliance

Grant Requirements:

• The business must be located in Lancaster City.
• The business must have a physical storefront.
• The business must be for-profit.
• The business must have been in operation for at least one year.
• Annual revenue must be under $2 million.
• Funds must be used for business improvements, the implementation of innovative ideas, or expansion efforts outlined in application.

Grant Cycle:

• The 2025 grant cycle opens March 1.
• Applications for this grant cycle are due May 1.
• 2025 grantees will be awarded and notified by September 1.
• Grantees will be announced in the winter issue of Fig, which releases in November.

Support The Fig Tree

Help The Fig Tree grow and provide a way for other businesses and individuals to get involved. Your tax-deductible donation will go through the Community Foundation to benefit small business owners. Grants will be determined by an independent community panel and will be awarded each fall.

2024 Recipients

In 2024, we were honored to extend our first grants to local businesses, empowering them to innovate and grow. The recipients presented ideas and projects that make Lancaster City a dynamic place to live and work, and funds were used to boost improvements, expansions, and innovations.
