First Bite: Lancaster City Restaurant Week 2019 Preview Night

Believe it or not, another Lancaster City Restaurant Week is almost here!

Explore the delicious Lancaster City culinary scene March 4 – 10 and discover specials at some of the best cafes, restaurants, and pubs that Downtown Lancaster has to offer.

To get a taste of what’s in store for Restaurant Week, the press was invited to Zoetropolis Cinema Stillhouse this past Monday to sample and savor some delectable treats from participating restaurants, and to get a peek at the soon-to-be opened Zoetropolis Stillhouse–which is sure to be a hot spot this summer!

Guests were treated to a variety of fare from places like Sprout of Rice & Noodles, The Belvedere Inn, Harvest Moon Bagel, Anita’s on Walnut, Decades, Commonwealth on Queen, Isaac’s Restaurant, The Imperial, and Himalayan Curry & Grill.

After opening remarks from Lancaster City Restaurant Week founder Chris Trendler, the audience was invited to Zoetropolis’ Cinema Room to pay homage to the late but great D. Robert Fenninger of Fenz Restaurant, Lancaster’s unofficial Master of Hospitality, who passed away last June. A memorial video highlighting Bob’s time at Fenz Restaurant was played to remind everyone of the impact he had on the local community, and to introduce The Bob Fenninger Hospitality Scholarship Award at HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College. To learn more about the scholarship visit HACC’s fundraising page.

If you’re an early riser and prefer breakfast you’re covered. Check out deals from Restaurant Week regular Commonwealth on Queen or the newly opened Limerick Delicatessen. Looking for a new date night dinner spot? Check out The Imperial, located on the first floor of Hotel Lancaster, or try the French-inspired dishes at Citronelle.

    Seafood Pasta from Belvedere Inn.

You know what they say, if you don’t post about it did you really eat it? Make sure to share your Restaurant Week pics on Instagram using #LCRW2019 to be entered into the Visit Lancaster City LCRW Instagram contest for a chance to win one of five prizes, including a $100 gift card, $100 Downtown Dollars, and a $50 gift card to Belvedere Inn.

Since we know everyone loves eating with their eyes, be sure to keep your eyes on the Fig Instagram and Facebook accounts next week where we’ll be highlighting a daily “Fig Dish of the Day” from a few of our favorite spots around town. And if you’re like us, and eating well is a year-round affair, check out The Fig Table for behind the scenes stories from Lancaster’s best chefs!
