Here’s the Scoop for National Ice Cream Month

Did you know? July is considered National Ice Cream Month and we couldn’t be more excited. Who doesn’t love a good excuse to eat a tasty cone or cup of your favorite flavor? We are celebrating this holiday by highlighting some of our most favorite ice cream parlors, shops, and creameries around Downtown Lancaster. Get a taste of what our City has to offer!

Serving hand-dipped Hershey’s Ice Cream, Splits & Giggles is a local favorite. Along with their tasty ice cream flavors, they now serve lunch and lite dinner options, including paninis, salads, homemade soups, and baked goods. The fun interior and charming outdoor patio space make this is a great place for the entire family.

    Lancaster Sweet Shoppe

In hopes of creating a dessert destination in Lancaster City, this shoppe was founded in 2016 by brothers, Marv and Jonathan Groff. Featuring locally-made, premium desserts, Lancaster Sweet Shoppe offers ice cream from Pine View Dairy, sweet chocolates, and freshly made stroopies—authentic, Dutch cinnamon cookies with a layer of sweet caramel inside. No matter what kind of dessert you prefer, everyone can find the treat they are looking for at Lancaster Sweet Shoppe.

    Penny’s

What started as a desire to share their love for ice cream around Lancaster County, brothers Caleb and Benjamin Kauffman and their wives Sarah and Lindsay opened Penny’s Ice Cream Truck in 2015. As a community favorite, Penny’s serves local ice cream from Carmen and David’s Creamery. Bring your friends and family together to enjoy the simple joy of a delicious, refreshing treat.

Along with their original Ice Cream Truck—which can be found periodically around the City—they now have two physical locations. You can find the Scoop Shop on North Prince Street in Downtown Lancaster while their Scoop Kiosk is located at the Park City Mall.
