    Local Visionary – Jaime Arroyo

Introducing you to the people and places that make Lancaster special is our mission. In the spring edition of Fig, you met some of our friends who are forging new paths and are selflessly committed to our community. Now, more than ever, we want to show our appreciation.

    ……….

Why Lancaster City is a special place:
“While I love traveling and experiencing new places, I always knew that Lancaster would be home. Our people make Lancaster City special; we’re a welcoming and loving city that focuses on building community. We collaborate to move forward and stand together in times of need. Our small business community is exceptional. From Social Enterprises to B Corps, our entrepreneurs focus on making their community better while improving the lives of their neighbors.”
How and why you are involved in the City:
“My parents taught me that the most valuable thing I can give is my time, and that it’s the best way to invest in our community. I also want to give back to the organizations that were such a vital part of me as I grew up in Lancaster City. I’m currently involved in serving on the nonprofit boards of Tabor Community Services, SACA Development, and Lancaster Recreation Commission. I am a member of the Global Shapers Lancaster Hub and began serving as a member of Lancaster City Council in January of this year.”
    Your hopes for the future:
“I believe Lancaster punches above our weight as a city, and my hope for the future is that we are an example for cities everywhere on how we can not only embrace challenges, but thrive in the midst of them. I imagine a future Lancaster City that collaborates easily with our neighboring municipalities and cities, a future where economic development is inclusive and sustainable, and a future that is stronger and more resilient because of the actions we took today.”
