Authentic: Steph Fleetman & Christine Miller

Fig Winter 2018 Authentic Feature Spotlight

Best friends Steph and Christine have been working and creating together since they met in college. As makers and vendors with their upcycled goods business, [re]chic, the two noticed a serious need for consistency to combat the nomadic trail of craft shows and flea markets. They envisioned a makers market that vendors and customers could depend on. Creatively Lancaster Maker’s Market was born from their vision to have a consistent, quality, curated, monthly makers market in Lancaster. Through Creatively Lancaster, Christine and Steph are providing a personal and connection driven experience for both makers and shoppers. “We are passionate about our vendor community and having awesome makers with whom we can interact. We are more than a place to shop or buy a great gift, we’re a place to come and be inspired.”

Although as creatives themselves they knew there was a need for what they had to offer, Christine and Steph were still blown away by the response. The entrepreneurial spirit in Lancaster is strong, and there are so many makers, artists, and creatives who have beautiful, meaningful, functional work to showcase in the community, that curating the market is the hardest part. The best part, they say, is seeing how this outlet has forged connections between creators and the community, and seeing some of their vendors empowered to take their dream business to the next level. Christine and Steph are thrilled see the connections, success, and inspiration that results from elevating the work of local creatives; they are proud of the friendships that have been forged and to have been linchpins in the success of creatives in Lancaster.
