CHANGEMAKER: Matt and Kathleen Smucker, Cafe One Eight

Matt and Kathleen Smucker provide an authentic meeting space for those looking to connect over coffee, share lunch, or enjoy being together at Cafe One Eight.

Q: Why is it important to create a welcoming cafe space for people in the community to connect?

A: It’s who we are and what our original vision was in starting a business. So many things at Cafe One Eight have evolved as we’ve grown as a business, but the idea of serving our guests with excellence and hospitality has always been our number one goal.

Q: How do you feel Cafe One Eight gives back to the Lancaster community?

A: Cafe One Eight contributes (in the form of gift cards and retail products) to many local nonprofits for fundraisers to help promote the great causes here in Lancaster.

Q: What is it about sharing food and coffee that helps bring people together?

A: There is just something about “breaking bread together” and talking over a cup of coffee that breaks down the walls and makes life more enjoyable.

Serving Hospitality: Matt and Kathleen Smucker provide an authentic meeting space for those looking to connect over coffee, sharing lunch, or enjoy being together at Cafe One Eight.
