Fresh Face: Central Market Flowers by Perfect Pots

Continuing the 150 year legacy of service, quality, and connection through plants.

Fresh Face

Laura Lapp grew up in the world of flowers.

As a young girl, her mother had a flower shop across from Longwood Gardens. Laura observed the way her mother built relationships with her customers, compelling those customers to return again and again to the place where they were known, not only by their favorite color or variety of flower but also for who they were and what was happening in their lives and families.

Laura remembers traveling with her mom to the greenhouses in Lancaster to collect beautiful blooms for the shop, and the deep-seeded belief that Lancaster was the best place for flowers was born alongside ideas of connection and relationship in business.

Years later, Laura’s mother was working at Rohrer’s flower stand in market and suggested Laura reach out to proprietor Nelson Rohrer for the pussy willows she was hunting for her Strasburg business, Perfect Pots. That introduction led to a working relationship between the two as Laura continued growing her business, Perfect Pots.

Nelson and Rose Rohrer beautified Lancaster Central Market with their cut flower stand. When Nelson and Rose decided it was time for them to pass their market stand on to someone else, they reached out to Laura who was thrilled to accept. “We always felt something was missing from our presence in the city,” said Laura, who dreamt of being a part of the rich history of Central Market.

“Lancaster Central Market is iconic and we are grateful for the eighteen years we have been able to be a part of it. Our grandparents, parents, Rose and I, our children, and our grandchildren have all worked at Central Market over the span of the last one hundred and fifty years and market is still going strong and getting better. Thank you for a wonderful life at market!” — Rose and Nelson Rohrer

Nelson and Rose Rohrer have served the community for eighteen years through their market stand. They will continue to work with Perfect Pots behind the scenes and are excited for the Perfect Pots team to continue a legacy of bringing life and color into the homes of market-goers downtown. Laura says, “Nelson and Rose have laid a beautiful path and we aren’t straying too far from that.” With fresh cut flowers as the base, Perfect Pots plans to add some fresh ideas, succulents, house plants, and air plants to the mix and are excited to be more accessible to their downtown customers while carrying on the legacy of service, quality, and connection of their predecessors.
