Things to Do
Set out with Rita McEldorney on a Fig Day Out
Local resident Rita McEldorney shares how she would spend a day out in Lancaster.
As Lancaster continues to be a top-rated place to retire, residents are finding their place as they continue enjoying the things they love to do.
One of those residents is Rita McEldorney. Rita was born and raised in Lancaster County and is a current volunteer and future resident of Garden Spot Village. With two daughters and eight grandchildren who also live in New Holland, Garden Spot has always been her and her husband’s top choice for a retirement community—for its proximity to family, lineup of excellent amenities, and access to the buzz of Lancaster City.
“We love living in a small town, but with the convenience of having downtown so close by,” Rita shared. “The city feels so alive—with so many choices for shopping and eating and the energy of different sounds and people all around you.”
Along with spending time with her grandchildren, playing pickleball and biking, and volunteering at Garden Spot Village, Rita loves to take her daughters into the city for a day out.
