The Red Rose Harvestini Named the Official Cocktail of Lancaster City!

John Costanzo of the Belvedere Inn wins Velocity Cocktail Competition.

Velocity 2017 was held last night at Tellus360. The event featured delicious bites, a fashion show featuring local businesses, wonderful live entertainment, and, for the first time ever, a cocktail competition.

The competition was stiff. And so were the drinks. The twist?  The rules stated that each cocktail had to contain at least one Lancaster City based liquor, beer, or makers ingredient- something that the bartenders really embraced.

As I walked by each of the beautifully decorated tables and stopped to sample each cocktail (a tough job, but somebody had to do it), I loved listening to each of the bartenders describe their drink and the inspiration behind it.

After two hours of sampling, VIP guests voted on the winning cocktail through secret ballot box. After tallying the votes the honorable Mayor Rick Gray named John Costanzo of the Belvedere Inn’s “The Red Rose Harvestini” the “Official Cocktail of the City of Lancaster” in an official proclamation.

Cheers to another great year at Velocity!
