Third Story Art is a hub for creative expression in the heart of Lancaster City

Artists and friends Leah Fox and Stephanie Gibson believe in curating a safe space for curiosity and community through art.

Situated on the third floor of 44 North Christian Street, Third Story Art is a haven for creativity and connection. Featuring private studios, communal workspace, and an art gallery, Third Story is a place where local artists can find community and share their work.

For founders Leah Fox and Stephanie Gibson, making art has been an essential act of self-care. The two met while raising children and balancing careers, handcrafting jewelry as a creative outlet amidst the demands of daily life.

“I found that the practice of being an artist can be very isolating,” Leah said. “I felt a desire or a longing to be alongside other artists.”

Throughout their friendship, Leah and Stephanie have encouraged each other to grow—from experimenting with new mediums like painting to hosting backyard art fairs and envisioning what it might be like to open their own artist studio.

The result of those dreams is Third Story, where the goal is to create supportive connections among local artists, encourage art making, and provide a venue for exhibition.

“Expressing, sharing, and viewing art helps us understand each other better,” Stephanie said. “In addition to showcasing established local artists, we want people who maybe have never picked up a paintbrush to feel like this is a place where they can come and try that in a safe space.”

Third Story’s next exhibit, Color and Texture, will be on view through mid-October. Stop by the gallery to be inspired by the work of local and regional artists and visit thirdstoryart.com to learn more.
