From the Heart of Lydia Book Signing with Darlene Colon

On Saturday, October 18, LancasterHistory welcomes author Darlene Colon for a reading and signing of her new book From the Heart of Lydia, written with Pam Lazos and Terry Webb. Composed for a young adult audience, From the Heart of Lydia is a fictional imaging of the childhood of the real Lydia Hamilton Smith. Smith was born and raised in Gettysburg and eventually moved to Lancaster to serve as the housekeeper to Congressman Thaddeus Stevens. Colon, who has been interpreting the life of Mrs. Smith for over twenty years, will appear in costume to read a brief excerpt from the book, followed by availability for book signings. The reading will take place at 1PM.
