Zoetropolis Film Course: The Golden Age of Sci Fi Cinema
Zoetropolis Film Course: The Golden Age of Sci Fi Cinema
March 9 @ 6:30 pm – 9:30 pm

The 1950s are often called the Golden Age of Science Fiction—a moment when flying saucers, alien visitors, and technological anxieties flooded American screens. But beneath the ray guns and rubber suits, these films were wrestling with serious questions about humanity, fear, conformity, science, and the future. This four-week film course explores classic Cold War–era science fiction cinema as both entertainment and cultural diagnosis. Each evening includes a brief introduction, a full screening, and a guided post-film discussion. Schedule (Mondays at 6:30 PM): • March 9 – The Day the Earth Stood Still • March 16 – Forbidden Planet • March 23 – Invasion of the Body Snatchers • March 30 – The Incredible Shrinking Man Together, these films ask enduring questions: What does it mean to be human in an age of powerful technology? How do fear and paranoia reshape communities? Are the real monsters “out there”—or closer to home? No prior background is required—just curiosity and a love of classic cinema. Food and drinks are available from Zoetropolis throughout the evening. Course Cost: $100 The registration fee covers all four film screenings, course readings, in-depth introductions, and post-screening discussions.
