Re-Imagining Kensington: An Evening with the Staff & Students of Klean Kensington, Philadelphia

February 13 @ 7:00 pm 8:30 pm

Come see and hear how paying urban kids to cultivate gardens and create murals is making a difference in a tough neighborhood in Philadelphia. Most of us have seen the disturbing YouTube videos from under the Frankford Metro line. Drug use and trafficking are evident all along Kensington Avenue. What the videos don’t show is the context of an historically thriving and proud section of Philly that still exhibits signs of neighborhood vitality. Jeremy Chen is a Lancaster native and graduate of Veritas Academy, Princeton University and Missio Seminary. He will introduce us to some of the young staff and teenagers of Klean Kensington. They’ll talk about what it’s like growing up in Kensington and how they are shaping its future…and their own lives. Jeremy and his wife Amy moved into Kensington twelve years ago. She is a dentist at Esparanza Health Center, and Jeremy is Founder and Director of Klean Kensington.
